Wakiso District Kadhi pays courtesy visit to Kira Mayor

Wakiso Muslim District Kadhi (Old Kampala) Sheikh Arias Kigozi has paid a courtesy visit to the mayor Kira Municipal Council His Worship Julius Mutebi Nsubuga at the Municipal Headquarters whom he greatly congratulated upon massively winning the recently concluded elections through a popular adult suffrage vote.

Mayor and his visitors have discussed a number of issues regarding effective service delivery in the Municipality and the District at large and agreed to work together to achieve that.

“When we achieve anything of desire like winning elections on the day of swearing-in we call religious leaders to pray for us and give us blessing, in the same situation when things go bad we either run to them or call upon them to preach for restoration of sanity and harmony but when it comes to working we tend to leave them out giving an excuse that they are not allowed to get involved in politics. For that matter I therefore wish to commit myself that as Kira leadership we are going to work with you as we have been always doing to see that our people get effectively served” said Mutebi.

Accompanied by members of his Executive, Sheikh Kigozi said that religion and politics are inseparable since they both serve the same public.

“We are here mainly to lay a foundation for establishment of a working relationship aiming at effective service delivery. Thing like poverty, environmental challenges among others which affect the people we serve do not look at religion or political thinking and so if working closely we can use the same platform and come up with campaigns for the transformation of our people” said Sheikh Kigozi.

For the matter of environmental protection and food security Sheikh Kigozi came with a fruit tree for planting and handed it over to the Mayor requesting him to work with the Municipal Physical Planner and locate the right place within the Municipal premises and plant it.
