IN PREPARATION FOR FIRE OUTBREAKE AND OTHER UNPREPAREDNES

Kira Municipal Council staff have today  got  a training in fire fighting from Uganda police force aiming at making staff prepared and ready for combating in case of any fire outbreak at the station. The training has been conducted at the Municipal headquarters where demonstrations have been conducted to prove the competence.

Representing the Municipal Accounting Officer Principal Assistant Town Clerk Kiiza Flora encouraged staff to be vigilant as far as fire and safety is concerned saying that most of the fire out brakes at workplaces results from negligence. She gave an example of staff members who leave computer switches on, and those who use electrical appliances such as electric kettles among others which they poorly manage.  She said that staff members having been trained and a fire assembling station/point established she is very aware that in case of anything at least every staff can handle for personal and organisation safety.  

The head of Security at the Municipal headquarters Assistanta Inspector of Police Kasule Nasiff said that the Mucipal Headquarters are visited by many clients some of whom come with vehicles in poor mechanical Conditions which puts the premises on risk and so, preparing all staff can save much in case of any fire outbreak

“Besides visitors there are some mechanics which are conducted from here on our machines and most of the gadgets such as computers are using electricity   and so any shock can happen but as its said that control is better than cure we deemed it necessary to train our staff so that in case of danger the situation can be handled within without necessarily waiting for the fire brigade” said ASP. Fire outbreak is one of the common cases in urban and busy areas and at times it becomes very had to address due to the time taken by the Uganda Police fire brigade to reach the affected venues. Having a fire assembling point in place and staff equipped with the basic skills it can help to reduce on the would be damage
