KIRA MC TO TRAIN LC1 IN REVENUE MOBILIZATION
LC1 leaders to be sensitized in revenue mobilization, Communication, garbage management and physical planning to fuel local development. This has been revealed by the Monicipal Mayor His Worship Allan Dantine Bulamu during the Municipal Budget Conference at Matterwood Hotel in Kira.
This was in response to a concern raise by one of the members said that the Municipality is doing a lot of things on ground and are seen by the people but not knowing who is doing so thus leading to confusion.
Bulamu said that given the different forums used by the public and the wave of social media the online is covered much by entertaining and propaganda giving less attention to public information. On realizing that gap Bulamu says that his Council is going to train all Local Council leaders in areas of Communication, revenue mobilization, physical planning and gabage management so that some of the public information can be accessed from local council.
“Whence the local leaders are having detail on their fingertips we shall not need people to go to Division or Municipal offices inquiring about basic issue and if they happen to come at least they will come knowing where to start from after being informed and updated from local level” said Bulamu.
He added that on many occasions some leader talk about revenue and other related matters giving misleading information and it becomes a challenge to the technical officers to implement some of the policies being passed by the Council.
Mr. Benon Yiga the Municipal Town Clerk appealed to all leaders at their respective levels to be the Municipal Ambassadors by explaining whets done by the council and also be the bridge between the community and the Municipal leadership.
“When requesting for mandate during political seasons you promise voters a lot of things which are done but not from your personal budgets but rather lobbing. If at the end you cannot explain whets being done during your time of leadership then your voters will judge you accordingly” he said.
“Moving forward let us move together, identify the community needs, fix them together and give the accountability for transparency and effective service delivery” he added
For the maintenance of the newly constructed roads Bulamu said that road gangs have been put in different areas to do regular sweeping and clearing drainages and he asked the Municipal Accounting officer let Chairpersons of the Local Council one to be the ones directly supervising these gangs for better results. #
